Ingredients Podcast vol.7

Ingredients always got something for your mind, body and belly. Not only do they present you with a delicious recipe that goes with every vinyl-release (never actually tried one myself but then again I only use recipes for inspirational purposes) they also provide this lovely podcast time and time again.

Fable- Northern Tales E.P

Sweden is not exactly known for having a great deal of dnb producers, especially not in the deeper end of this music. That´s why it feels good to finally hear these tunes from the very talented up and coming producer Fable. He has been living in England for the past few years but are originally from Halmstad, a small town in the south of Sweden best known for the mainstream-pop sounds of Roxette. He is also without a doubt one of the nicest guys I ever spoke to in dnb. So, after reading this you must belive that I am massively biased but trust me, this is truly brilliant stuff. Realesed on most major digital musicshops today!

Tokyo Prose guestmix for organic

Time for some more New Zeeland related material here, this time it´s all about rolling dnb. Organic is a clubnight in London. They also have a fresh-looking site as well where you can read interviews and get info on forthcoming events among other things. After the current brilliant releases from Tokyo Prose on Samurai music this mix is just like whipped cream on your mash (which strangely enough is an expression for something good in Sweden).

2. Need for Mirrors – Punch Drunk [Integral]
3. Calibre – ???
4. Heavy1 – Heavy Tone [Avantgarde]
5. Little Dragon – Twice (LSB Remix)
6. Tokyo Prose – Dash
7. ASC – Brainscan [Samurai Red Seal]
8. Mark System – Go Again [Warm Comms]
9. Tokyo Prose – Saving Grace [Samurai Red Seal]
10. Tokyo Prose – Turtleneck
11. Jason Burns – Back 2 You (Sinistarr Remix)
12. Bal – All City [Dispatch LTD]

Free bootleg by Spectrasoul

I really love it when estabilshed producers give away music for free insted of  letting unrealesed tunes just sit on their harddrives giving plesure to no one execept maybe some fortunate few. Here´s a great remix of Adele´s Rolling in the deep as heard on the Shogun audio podcast and it´s so much better than the original version.

Kasra in the mix for Resident advisor!

I can´t believe that I didn´t take notice of this at first but better late than never right? Probably because it´s spring and as usual I tend to cut down on dnb once the sun shows it´s pretty face ever so often. Critical is label of the month over at Resident advisor and in celebration of that labelboss Kasra has recorded this wonderful mix mainly consisting of forthcoming Critical material. Judging from the sound of this mix Critical is more than likely to be label of the year for me. Get the full story:t http://www.residentadvisor.net/feature.aspx?1306

Autonomic on Rinse fm May 5th

This is definitely one for those who miss the ground breaking autonomic podcasts. D-bridge is starting  the show in his usual playful manner  by playing a lot great music including a lot of of old new jack swing beats. Later moving in to some crazy new dnb material alongside Consequence.  Pay extra attention to the dancehallinfused tune that drops about 44 minutes in to the show ( feat Jah Dan?). Been rewinding it in itunes the whole morning, id please!

Free tune from Mount Kimbie

Wonderduo Mount Kimbie needs no introduction and if you´re into their stuff this one must surely be a treat for you. Their new ep Carbonated is going to be released on Hot flush recordings 27th of June and it´s going to contain two remixes of Carbonated from the massive lp Crooks and lovers and two new songs one of which they are all ready giving away for free below. A good way to cheer up this dreadful Wednesday afternoon isn´t it?

Free tune from the Kokeshi crew

I´m really confused about who is responsible for this. It´s uploaded on s.c by producer Kokeshi affiliated producer Hyponik but the artist name is Irrelevant (that´s the actual name of the producer). Same guy/woman? Nevertheless, it´s a great tune and it´s free so why ask to many questions?

Krust remix competition

It´s time for yet another remix competition in the world of dnb. This time it´s the 97 classic Warhead by Dj Krust that is going to be dissected and put back to life by bedroom producers from all over the world. A difficult task indeed since the original is such a classic and it´s allready been given a proper remix treatment from established producers such as ram trilogy back in the day. If you still want to give it a go simply register an account at http://back2you.co.uk to get access to all the necessary parts.

Shogun audio run tings!

Probably the most anticipated dnb album of 2011, Icicle´s under the ice is out today and even if a lot of the tunes on it is really familiar by now I can´t wait to really get in to it.  Icicle is also making an appearance in you guessed it...the lastest shogun audio podcast. Friction usually deliver the goods and episode 18 is no exception to the rule. Standout tracks for me are a fresh collaboration from Rockwell and Phace called No as well as Alix Perez remix of Icicle´s redemption (orginal version with sublime vocals in the courtesy of one Mr Robert Owens is on the album).

Sonorous Podcast Vol 1

Sonourus music is know for releasing soulfull and melodic dnb that still does the damage on the dancefloor. Of course there are plenty of other labels around that matches that description but in my opinion Sonourus is one of the best because of it´s high level of quality releases.  This is their first podcast hosted by Octane and Dlr who took the scene by storm last year with brilliant releases such as the hiphop infused smasher Back in the grind and Seven on Dispatch recordings. This is a bit harder and darker than you would expect from a label like Sonourus, but good music is always good music and this is just that. A big bonus is that even if they are chatting quite a lot over the beats ( wich can be a major disturbance) they do so in a very relaxed and entraining manner.

-The Sect - Entheogen-
1. Flame - Resistance (Subterra and Dekko remix)
2. Survival, Octane and DLR - Transition VIP
3. Amoss - Flex
4. System and Fracture - Yeah But…
-Ulterior Motive Featherweight VIP-
5. EBK, Octane and DLR ft. Gusto - Mainframe
6. Alix Perez and Jubei - Untitled
7. Skeptical and Dub Phizix - The Enemy
8. Heavy1 - Xiphactinus
9. Cern, Dose, Teknik and Menace - Lurch
10. Zero T and Script - Rising Damp
11. Cern - Terminus
12. EBK - Inside
13. June Miller - Killing Tree
14. DBR - New Man
15. Need for Mirrors - Smudge
16. Infinite - Beachball
17. Jubei - Gateway
18. Subterra - Guttermouth
19. Bazil - Back to Front
20. Hydro and Halogenix - Halcyon Daze
21. Ulterior Motive - Seven Segments
22. Bal - All City
23. Atom - Dolly (Lynx remix)

If you´re unfamiliar with the sonourus label or just up for some mondaymorning raving i´ll leave you with this wicked tune by Sabukuru from 2008 .

Instra:mental talks to Resident advisor

Since ivé been a huge fan of instra:mental since i heard their remix of Commix-Japanese electronics on myspace for the first time a few years back, this is like an early christmaspresent  for me. Their debut album Resolution 653 is out  now, haven´t  had time to really listen to it but as i´m quickly scanning thru the tracks it seems pretty clear that they are stepping away from dnb and going all out old-school electro/techno. Nevertheless, their "comeback" releases such as Photograph, No future, Futurist and Blush response (with D-bridge) to name a few are truly timeless pieces of music.
In this episode of the r.a exchange podcast the guys gives us the whole story!

Free dubsteptune from Skv18!

It´s selfpromoting time here on c.o.j. I don´t want to write too much about this since I´m involved with this project myself (one half actually) and I feel it would be biased. Ah, screw it! Listen and dowload, it´s an absolute masterpice!

Chris Inperspective´s giving a away some heavy tunage!

The headline pretty much says it all. This is proper "feel good" drum and bass . Heavy, deep and musical at the same time just as it should be done and a sad reminder of what this type of dnb used to sound like in it´s heyday. I would happily pay for a twelve- inch version of these tunes and that just proves that the difference between free and purchased music is getting smaller by the minute.

Morphy

One of my favourite producers at the moment is definitely Morphy everything he have touched the last year or so seem to have turned in to gold. I know this is not much, just a preview and all that but on the other hand..it´s just too good to be ignored. Forthcoming on Raiden´s Voodoo music.

If you´re not familiar with Morphys deep dubbed-out jungle you can dowload a bunch of his older tracks for free here!

Too cool for school

And now for something completley different here on c.o.j. This is by no means a fashionblog but I just had to post this colab between millionhands and houselabel  TSUBA. Buy this T-shirt and get a wicked 12" by Tazz limited to 500 copies.  Forward thinking marketing indeed. While we are on the subject of garments I must mention that they have some very good looking hot flush recordings t-shirts over at millionhands as well so check it out!

Dub Phizix Kmag guestmix

I used to love buying the latest issue of Knowledge magazine, come home from an afternoon of Friday shopping and reading it while doing my business in the toilet.  It´s a real shame the printed edition have ceased to exist. However, I am willing to forget the past and look forward as long as the Kmag website keeps providing top-a-top mixes like this one.  Keep your eyes open for new releases from Dub Phizix on labels like Ingredients, Exit and soul:r to name a few. He is truly a master of his craft.

New album by 2562

2009´s Unbalanced by 2562 is definitely one of my favourite dubstepalbums of all time. Haven´t heard the whole new album yet but it sounds very promising judging from the soundclips. Apparently he´s strictly been using samples from old discoalbums to make this album. Don´t know if this is true but information like that really caters to my curiosity. Sounds that has taken one step further down the path of experimentation and away from "traditional" dubstep wich is not necessarily a bad thing. You be the judge.

Electronic explorations # 149- ASC

It´s not evryday you see dnb being highlighted in this part of cyberspace but the latest episode of electronic explorations features a wicked guestmix from the man they call ASC and have tracklist so fresh that the tunes are a secret (in other words: no tracklist). There´s also loads of other great new music in there witch really shouldn´t be slept upon. The ASCmix starts at about 40 minutes in to the show.

Sunshine in a bag!

I went to see James Blake last sunday and to be honest it was a bit dissapointing. Good thing I woke up next morning and tuned in to this wonderfull show on rinse fm. Dj Crises plays real dubstep music from the heart as well as some deep quality dnb (not in this episode). He is also quite an amusing character. If you´re an audiophile and allergic to chatting over the beats this is definitely not for you. As for the rest of you, enjoy!

Also I wanted to share this mix by Crises which is quite old but contains some "sure to be classic" material!
